Purple Ribbon Bred

Oh, I'm purple ribbon bred.
My name's written in the book.
But the picture on the front,
Is not quite the way I look.

Oh, I'm purple ribbon bred.
I'm a peer without compare.
My grandpappy took a third,
At the local county fair.

Oh, I'm purple ribbon bred,
And I'm sure I'd take a cup,
In a dog show or a ring,
If my right ear would stand up.

Oh, I'm purple ribbon bred,
And of that there is no doubt,
From my short and stubby tail,
To my short and stubby snout.

Oh, I'm purple ribbon bred
And it's proof my blood is blue.
Oh, I'm royal through and through,
For my eyes are that shade too!

Oh, I'm purple ribbon bred,
And should wear one round my neck,
To show I'm proud of myself,
Though the breeders mutter Heck!

Oh, I'm purple ribbon bred,
And I know that I'm just right!
Because I'm warm, fed, and loved,
And I'm played with every night!

Oh, I'm purple ribbon bred,
Though I don't know what that means.
To my people I'm the best.
I'm a champion it seems!
